Clarence Musicians and Faculty Wanted

If you go to the Clarence High School website, under the link for Music you will find "Where Are They Now?" over on the sidebar. It's a Hall of Fame of sorts, where the musicians submit themselves:

"This page will list former band, chorus, and orchestra members, as well as former music faculty, who wish to let us all know what they have been doing since they left the Clarence Schools."

There are no resumes to submit, no review committee, and best of all, everyone gets in! Just drop a line or two to music teacher Thomas Stroth (address on webpage) and tell him what you're doing now. Simple, yes?

The only catch is that you have to do it yourself. In other words, even though I sent him the Clarence Musicians blog post, it's up to you to get yourself included there. Samples:

Randall Reade: "I graduated in 1979, and I played the viola in the Orchestra. Additionally, I played piano, and I played the first ever piano concerto with the orchestra when I was a senior. Although I went to law school and became a lawyer for the US Department of Labor..."

Nicole Bzibziak: "I just graduated from Canisius College with a BA in Political Science and Music - Flute Performance....Currently, I am employed at the BPO as a marketing assistant."

George Whittier : "...Former band director and coordinator of music for Clarence Schools before he retired in 1991, Whittier started going to Las Vegas for the High Roller tournaments in 1997..."

You'll have to go to the site itself to read everything that they wrote.

"If you know someone who should be included, please let them know you have seen this page!"

That's what I'm doing. It's open to all musicians and faculty, not just those associated primarily with the high school.

So what are you waiting for? Send a blurb out now! Plus you'll have time to rethink your first outpouring of words and submit a corrected version - Mr. Stroth is probably on vacation now.

This was a view from a cemetery in Texas and I couldn’t help but think of Jenni in Kansas when I saw it.

We stopped at a cemetery near the highway in Oklahoma, somewhere after I poked fun at the naming of the Washita River (I kid you not). I kept singing WY! Sheet a River, I’m a dork that way. But back to the point, this cemetery was inundated (they nest in colonies) with Great-tailed Grackles.

Huge, happy, hungry (apparently) Grackles. And these photos are of various ones and pairs, not the same one over and over.

So many of the mama Grackles had bugs in their mouths, I am assuming for babies and the daddies were telling us to get the heck away from their trees, where I assume the nests were.

We had a rather laid back day today. I worked on Prissy's costume (almost done - should be done tomorrow) and we went to a party this evening.

Bubba was in an exceptionally foul mood - so Prissy, Bubba and I left early and did some sparklers and baby fireworks at home. He said it was boring. But, we watched Wipeout on Tivo and some Macy's fireworks. It's almost 10 and I've sent them to bed. Hubby is still over there (they are really "his" friends - but they are mine by association.)

On a positive note - Jasmine has been using the litter robot almost exclusively and Oreo used it today all on her own! I was so excited I almost cried. If we can get them litter robot trained by the time we go to Florida for Nationals - it would be a very awesome thing.

Anyway, short post this evening. I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!

Orpheus, especially, is camera-shy, and always manages to turn his head or turn his back on me when the camera comes out. But Elektra seems to be getting more comfortable with the idea of having a camera in her face, although she does sometimes become camera-shy when the flash on .. but she also does try to ham it up for the camera -- which is odd since she doesn't know what I am doing!
